About Wendy Mitchell

With 30 years’ experience in the public and private sector, the firm translates how government operates to companies that are working to achieve specific business goals.

As the principal of WM Consulting, Inc. since 2006, Wendy Mitchell has an impressive record working in the areas of budget, energy, land use and environmental policy.

A veteran of both the California State Assembly and State Senate, Ms. Mitchell has served as Senior Budget Consultant in the California State Assembly, Liaison to the Latino Legislative Caucus, and Legislative Consultant to the Senate Majority Caucus and the California Senate Majority Leader. During her tenure in the Legislature she was recruited to run a variety of campaigns from the Oregon border to San Diego.

In 2003, she was appointed Chief of Staff to State Senator Denise Moreno Ducheny (D-San Diego), Chair of the Senate Budget Committee.

Upon her move to the private sector, Ms. Mitchell was named Vice President External Affairs for Cadiz, Inc., a publicly traded international firm specializing in water resources and land management.

In 2005, Ms. Mitchell joined Australian-based Woodside Natural Gas as Vice President of Government and Public Affairs.

Continuing her lifelong commitment to public service, from 2010-2016 she served as the Governor’s appointee to the California Coastal Commission, the agency tasked with protecting the state’s precious beaches and coastline.

Prior she served as the Chair of both the South Valley Area Planning Commission and the Mulholland Design Review Board under Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa.

Ms. Mitchell currently serves on the board of directors of the environmental justice organization Pacoima Beautiful, the California League of Conservation Voters and the Los Angeles Business Council.

Wendy Mitchell holds a Masters Degree in Public Administration from the University of Southern California, and a Bachelor of Arts degree in Government and Journalism from the California State University, Sacramento.

A native of California, Ms. Mitchell grew up on a farm outside of Santa Maria. She currently lives bi-coastal between Washington DC and Los Angeles, CA expanding her consulting business to both state and federal government relations.
